Gabriela Ramirez-Chavez is a poet, translator, and Literature Ph.D. Candidate at UC Santa Cruz specializing in contemporary Central American writing. Her work appears in The Wandering Song: Central Americans Writing in the United States (2017), Imaniman: Poets Writing in the Anzaldúan Borderlands (2016), and elsewhere.
Gabriela currently lives in Oakland, where she is a Public Graduate Fellow in Acquisitions at the University of California Press. She is also working on a translation of El corazón de la piedra/Ri uk’u’x ri ab’aj (2010) by Maya K’iche’/Kaqchikel poet Rosa Chávez.
She has received scholarships from the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop and the USC/Los Angeles Review of Books Publishing Workshop.
